Clara Fergus grew up in Canterbury, New Zealand, and gained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) majoring in Human Nutrition at the University of Otago. Clara has been studying nutrition for the past four years. She is well on her way to becoming a New Zealand-registered dietitian (NZRD). Clara has interned for one of New Zealand’s most qualified & experienced Sports Dietitians Dr Kirsty Fairbairn alongside Otago Rugby Dietitian, Rebecca Wilson.
Clara has created Fergy’s Foodie in an attempt to simplify nutrition and break through the noise and controversy surrounding food. Clara offers readers a chance to understand the science behind why health professionals recommend eating certain foods, and how these can improve our health, hence allowing you to make an educated decision about what enters your mouth.
Currently, training for a full marathon Clara’s sparse amount of spare time is spent enjoying time with family and friends, participating in adventure sports, distance running, and recipe creation.
Pursuing a career as a dietitian has been a great fit for Clara, having always had a love for food, health, and medicine. A love of swimming and running, among other sports, sparked Clara’s particular interest in performance nutrition. Having juggled training, working and studying during college, Clara understands the demands of an athlete with a busy style of living.
